A complicated credit history can feel like a permanent barrier to homeownership, but it rarely is when the right lender is involved.

The Challenge

Our client had several County Court Judgments and defaults on their file, the result of a genuinely difficult period some years earlier. By the time they came to us, their finances had stabilised, but the credit history remained, and several lenders had already ruled them out without looking any further.

The Solution

We took the client through a specialist adverse credit route, working with a lender who assesses applications on the full circumstances rather than applying a blanket rejection to anyone with historic CCJs or defaults. We made sure the context behind the credit history, and the client's stronger current position, was clearly presented as part of the case.

"Adverse credit doesn't have to mean no, it just means you need a lender who's set up to understand the story behind the numbers," said Chloe, Mortgage Adviser at The Mortgage Centre. "Once that context was there, this was a straightforward case for the right lender."

The Outcome

The mortgage was approved, giving our client the home they had thought was out of reach because of their credit history.
